Here is a post about the future...

Hello!

Here's a random photo I took in Wiltshire 2 summers ago.

As the title says, this post is about the future. No, i'm not about to get all weird and tell you I can see into the future (though that would be pretty cool) but a lot of things in my life are changing very dramatically at the moment. I know for most people the summer between high school and university is a scary one. It certainly is for me. In about 28 days I'm going to be moving back to the UK, I've not lived there in around 8 years and although my family is coming with me for a bit of a holiday they will be leaving me all alone by the time summer ends.

I have conditional acceptances to The University of Glasgow and The University of Aberdeen, even though I'm English these two unis seemed perfect for me. Not only did the courses for English Language look really interesting but so did the cities and the buildings! I do love pretty buildings, especially ones which look like Hogwarts.

I have to admit though, I'm absolutely terrified! Not just about leaving home but also about my A-Level grades although the exams seemed to go okay, I'm still so on edge about my results. It's driving me crazy!

Overall though I'm excited. Terrified but excited. I'm a giant ball of mixed emotions about it all. I keep trying to look at it as another adventure and it really is. I'm just excited to see where it all takes me.

Toodles x

(Yes, I'm going for toodles. It's cute, don't judge.)

Summer/Beach Essentials

Hello!

Living in sunny Dubai, it's pretty much summer all year round so when it comes to summer essentials I've had quite a bit of experience! I'm not a very beach-y person but my friends and family are so I have a few things that I always take with me which keep me content (or at least try- nothing I take with me can stop sand getting everywhere sadly).

(1) Water

I cannot stress how important water is! I know this may seem a bit obvious, but believe me it's easy to forget ( I would know because I forgot water last week and passed out. Not my best moment to say the least). It's important to stay hydrated where ever you are, but it's extra important to stay hydrated in the heat. Dehydration can cause you to get really sick which no one wants on holiday and by staying hydrated you get the additional impacts of lovely skin! WATER! WATER! WATER!

(2) Suncream

This is just about as important as water. If anything you could go to the beach with just suncream and water and you'd be safe. I usually go for Boots own Soltan range. It comes in a range of SPFs, so there's lots of choice. I usually go for SPF 30 because the sun in Dubai can be quite strong. I personally think that the higher the SPF the better, though I've heard lots of people say that SPF 30 is sufficient for pretty much everywhere but I think if you burn quite easily you should definitely go for something a bit higher. Another reason I love Soltan is because it smells delish! It smells like summer, which is quite hard to describe but believe me it is great! It is also moisturising which is another plus because the sun can easily dry you out and along with salty water it can become a disaster for your skin. Although I love Soltan, just about any suncream with UVA/UVB protection will work!

Oh, and always remember to reapply your suncream every hour or two and after you've been in the water.

(3)  A Wide Tooth Comb

Beach-y looking hair is a must when lounging on the beach but when you've been drenched in salty sea water, hair can become a bit tangled and knotty. A wide tooth comb will stops hair becoming matted and messy.

(4) Conditioner

I use this along with my comb to keep my hair feeling soft and luxurious. It also stops it from becoming really knotty, so you don't have to endure hours at home trying to battle out knotted hair. I use a small bit of Herbal Essences Hello Hydration conditioner and comb it through the ends of my hair before I leave the house and then do it again once or twice when I'm on the beach. It also stops your hair getting all crunchy, which is a giant dislike of mine.

(5) BB Cream

Like lots of women and girls out there I never feel very comfortable leaving the house with my face completely naked. I use BB Cream when I'm going to the beach because it gives me a bit more coverage than tinted moisturiser and many of them already have SPF. BB Creams are usually waterproof which stops you having to worry that you look like your face is melting. I normally take my BB Cream with me so I can pop to the bathrooms and reapply it just in case I've rubbed some off.

I also sometimes use a little bit of concealer underneath my BB Cream but only if I'm having a horrendous face day!

(6) Waterproof Mascara

I love mascara! It is probably one of the few beauty essentials that I probably couldn't live without. A good waterproof mascara is essential for the beach because no one wants panda eyes. I feel mascara makes me look a whole lot prettier and just opens up my eyes making me look more awake. I prefer Maybelline Falsies waterproof mascara when I'm beaching it. It hardly ever runs (Unless you rub your eyes madly, which I do often because of the salty water ugh!) and it makes my eyelashes look ultra long!

(7) Lip balm & Hand cream

I've grouped these together because they aren't really important but I enjoy using them. They stop my hands getting all wrinkly from the water and the lip balm just helps soften my lips even when they are being battered by the ocean breeze.

(8) Aftersun

This is more of an 'After Beach Essential'. I usually keep my aftersun in the fridge at home and apply it straight after I've had a shower and washed of all the salt and sand. The cooling sensation feel lovely on  sunkissed and very burnt skin. It is also moisturising which is a bonus! Again, I use Boots Soltan aftersun as I love love love the smell and I also really like the texture as it's a bit of a cream/ gel hybrid, so it is very easy to apply.

So, they're my 8 Summer/ Beach essentials. I do take a lot more with me to the beach, but these are the thing that I use the most. I really feel they keep my hair and skin looking lovely. I also like taking a good book or a mag with me, not that I ever get time to read them! They usually just sit and look pretty in my bag!

About Me TAG

Hello!

So, I thought a good way to start of would to be to introduce myself. I was going to do a 'Summer must haves' but I going to save that for another time. I know I have an 'About' page, but here are few more random things!

1. Do you have a middle name?
Yep, it's Mae.

2. What was your favourite subject in school?

This is a hard one, I liked pretty much all of the humanities but hated Maths and Science with a passion (Still do). But I have to say that English and Art were my favourites. And I'm hopefully going on to study English at university in a few months, just waiting for my A-Level results at the mo! Scary stuff!

3. What’s your favourite drink?

Coke! I don't like the diet stuff though. I also like a good cuppa...

4. Favourite song at the moment?

This has to be my least favourite question as like most my favourite song changes ALL THE TIME! Right this very second though it is Counting Stars by One Republic.

5. What would you name your children?

Matthew and/or James for a boy. Aria and/or Eyanna for a girl.

6. Do you participate in any sports?

I'm not to keen on sports, but I do love the gym...It's a bit weird.

7. Favourite Book?

HARRY POTTER.
I also love: The Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger, mushy Nicholas Sparks books and I really enjoyed The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chobsky.

8. Favourite Colour?

Pink! But this also changes regularly, 'She's indecisive she can't decide...' (I like me a bit of JB)

9. Favourite Animal?
Cats...

10. Favourite perfume?

Carolina Herrera 212! I also like anything that smells like Vanilla because let's face it who doesn't want to smell like cake?

11. Favourite holiday?

I went on holiday to Switzerland one year in high school and it has to have been one of the greatest experiences! Sadly, I'm still a crappy ski-er.

12. Have you graduated High School?

Only just! I just finished my A-levels a week ago now I'm just waiting results day.

13. Have you been out of the Country?

Lots! I actually don't even live in my home country, I live in the beautiful Dubai! But I'm moving back home next month.

14. Do you speak any other Languages?

I wish...I want to learn Arabic and Italian though!

15. Do you have any siblings?

Yep, I have a baby sister. Who's not really a baby seeing as she's 14.

16. What’s your favourite store?

I'm a huge fan of Topshop! Also love River Island and New Look and Boots and The Body Shop and...This list could go on forever so I'm going to stop myself there!

17. Favourite Restaurant?

Hmm, I love Macaroni Grill partially because they give you crayons and you can draw on the tables...The food is pretty yummy too!

18. Did you like school?

Bits of it...I can't say I had the time of my life but I made quite a few great friends.

19. Favourite YouTubers?

This is so easy for me! Zoella, Tanya Burr, Sprikle of Glitter, Jim Chapman and PointlessBlogTv! That was in no particular order because I love them all.

20. Favourite Movie?

It's really lame but I can watch A Cinderella Story on repeat and have done before.

21. Favourite Tv show?

This is one of the questions where I could go on forever but my faves have to be: Pretty Little Liars, The Walking Dead, Friends, How I Met Your Mother and Ancient Aliens.
I've also just started watching Game of Thrones and Twisted and I'm quite enjoying them, but don't think I can list them as faves just yet...they have potential though!

22. Pc or Mac?

Mac. I'm an Apple girl!

23. What phone do you have?

iPhone 4S.

24. How tall are you?

5'4. I'm pretty average.

25. What’s your most listened to song on itunes?
Crave You by Flight Facilities feat. Giselle

26. What kind of style would you define yourself as having?
I think it's a mix of high street with kind of hippy-boho inspired edge.

27. Favourite number?

The number 7 and the number 13. I don't know why...

28. Guilty Pleasures?

Bad movies and lame reality TV.

29. Two Pet Peeves?

(1) People who chew with their mouth open. Yucky.
(2) People who ignore messages/ don't reply. I can be so hypocritical as I do this quite often...

30. One thing in your closet you cannot live without?

Black vests! I know they seem pretty basic but I swear they go with pretty much everything I own and they're so good for layering. If I'm in a cba kind of mood I just throw on a nice black vest, a blazer and skinnies with a nice necklace and I'm set! Black vests are the best!

Sooooooo, that was a pretty long post! I hope it wasn't to boring. I promise things will be better next time.

I'm now trying to think of a phrase to sign off with...'Bye' seems the most obvious, but kind of boring. 'Toodles' is cute but kind of twee and reminds be of Sharpay out of High School Musical...
