What's In My Bag?

Bag from New Look, 50 Dhs in the sale

Hello!

Today I'm going to let you all have a nosy through my bag. But before I get to that I have to ask...Does anyone else always go to start a new blog when they actually mean to write a new post? I'm forever clicking on the wrong link and it drives me mad!

Anyways...

Here is a look inside my bag!
(Please excuse the badly taken pictures, I'm packing up my bedroom at the moment so everything is all higgelty piggelty...)

Because you never know what might happen...
This is my current read and I'm really enjoying it. I love that it seems really factual and takes itself so seriously even though it's fiction. When I'm reading it I almost believe that the virus they're talking about actually exists.

My not so little black notebook. I take this everywhere. I use it to write lists and doodle and jot down blog ideas. It's pretty much the inside of my brain. Plus it's so cute!

I had to literally run to Boots the other day to get this. I have a nut allergy and have to take this before I rush to the hospital if I ingest nuts (As the doctors here won't give me an epi-pen). Back to the running, I usually keep a few of these in my bag just in case, the one day I forget to put any in my bag, I accidentally pop a nut filled Date in my mouth. Not a good idea. Thankfully I spat it out really quickly and took one of these so I only really got an itchy mouth.

Ohhh tissues...Interesting.

This is one of my favourite body sprays as it smells delicious and I enjoy smelling like baked goods. I feel like a cookie when I wear this and feeling like a cookie feels good.

I'm actually not a giant fan of this purse. I got it in New Look when my old one fell to pieces whilst I was shopping. Hopefully I'll be able to find something cute in England.

Tickets from when me and one of my best friends went to the cinema. I loved the film, especially all the beautiful things. Plus Emma Watson <3

Various lip products. A girl can never have enough...

A brush that I bought in The Body Shop whilst I was Christmas shopping. I used to have really short hair but have grown it out in the last year so I'm actually having to keep on top of the tangles which can be a bit of a hassle. I really want to by myself a Tangle Teezer though!

A pair of broken glasses. As you do. I really need to get these fixed because I am terrible at using contacts and really should wear glasses when I'm reading and on my laptop at least. My eyesight is terrible.

A wand. Yes, I'm a Harry Potter fan. No, I don't usually carry a wand around in my bag. But a friend of mine made this for me as a leaving pressie (Isn't is good!) and I just haven't got round to taking it out of my bag.

This is my favourite perfume, 212 by Carolina Herrera. I love that even though the packaging is huge it actually contains two small travel sized bottles. Smells beautiful.

Keys for the house and gate. I'm always getting locked out as my kets are never in my bag. One time I had to wait in the heat for about an hour for my mum's friend to come round and save me as my dad was at work which is a few hours away and my mum was in the UK. She didn't have a key but she took me to hers and we got a pizza. Awww.

I always love people's What's in my bag posts because I'm really nosy (It's human nature!) I wish I had some gorgeous Celine bag to show you all. Never the less I hope you enjoyed snooping through my bag!

Summer sounds

Hello!

I know I've already posted today but I'm feeling so motivated! I'm going to try and post everyday and as many times as I like, I want there to be something new to read all the time.

I thought it would be nice to share with you a few of my favourite summer songs, a summer playlist for 2013...

I'm usually quite into a lot of indie/acoustic sounding things, but when summer rolls around I love songs to be upbeat and fun. So here are the songs that I've had on repeat for a while...

212 by Azelia Banks ft Lazy Jay.
(Not usually my thing but I'm addicted to this since watching The Bling Ring)

I Couldn't Care Less by Leslie Clio

Falling by Haim

Striptease by The FURS
(This should be everyones fav song...)

Wake Me Up! by Avicii

Bang Bang by will.i.am

Diane Young by Vampire Weekend

What's on your summer playlist?

Moisturiser Mania!

Hello!

Today I thought I'd share my everyday favourite moisturisers. They aren't anything fancy but they really do the trick and I swear by them all! I have a bit of a moisturising obsession so whenever I'm in the Body Shop or at Bath and Body Works I walk round sniffing every moisturiser in sight. I like moisturisers to smell delish as well as actually doing there jobs. They're skin food and we like our food to smell nice so I make sure my skin's food smells yummy too. Might be a bit weird but I don't care.

Olay is my go to facial moisturiser. I've been using it for as long as I can remember (Okay, since I was about 13...). It is also what my Mum, Grams and Great Grandma have been using for years and years! (And I have to say they all have great skin, especially my Grams who really does NOT look her age.)

I use the normal/combo formula because my skin gets a bit temperamental and can't make up it's mind on whether to be oily or dry. Olay really does the trick and has never made me breakout (Which is why I'm a bit iffy about changing facial moisturisers). It soaks into the skin really easily and I'm never left with a greasy feeling (or looking) face.

The consistency is great as it isn't to thick or to runny- it's the perfect in between. It is also a very, very pale pink which is pretty. It doesn't really have a distinct smell which is why I think it is very good for sensitive skin as it has no harsh chemically ingredients.

Hand moisturiser is one thing I don't think I could live without and this Hemp Intensive Hand Butter has become an absolute essential of mine. I suffer from very mild dermatitis on my hands. The skin on my palms peels and becomes very rough and it sometimes hurts to use them. I also get very rough bits of skin running along my fingers. It isn't very nice. I have tried bazillions of different hand creams from Nivea to Clarins and this Hemp hand butter has been the best.

It honestly doesn't smell that great (Which goes my everything I believe in!). But it is so good. It makes my hands really soft and they have completely stopped peeling since I started using it. As it says in the description it is heavy duty, so it is quite thick and does leave the hands a little bit greasy which may put some people off but if you put it on just before bed it should be fine.

The normal hand cream version of this is also amazing and I usually keep that in my handbag (But I ran out and stupidly threw the packet in the bin). The hand cream really does smell nice, kind fresh like plants but not flowers. Which makes sense because hemp seed comes from a plant. But yes, it's hand cream hemp counterpart is also a great investment. Like the intensive hand butter it is also quite heavy and takes a long time to soak in but I feel like it is a small price to pay for such lovely soft hands!

Palmer's Cocoa butter is this months favourite! I picked it up randomly when I was at the supermarket because I'd just run out of moisturiser for my body, I wasn't even thinking when I put it in the basket. But boy am I glad that I did.

It smells delicious to begin with. Chocolatey without being fake and plastic-ey smelling which is what I think the "I love strawberries and cream" products smell like. It has a great consistency too, although when it first came out the bottle it seemed really thick- it actually goes onto the skin really well. It is in no way oily and applies easily. A little goes a long way though.

I've only been using this product for about a week but I cannot see my self stopping anytime soon. I even googled to make sure I could get it in the UK. I am that in love with it. My skin feels so much smoother and looks so healthy. My legs have also achieved a pretty sheen to them when I'm wearing skirts and they look great. I am beyond happy with this moisturiser.

I got this as a present from one of my mum's best friends when she went on a trip to New Zealand to visit her parents and I haven't been able to find it anywhere since! It is an Australian product.

I use this predominately on my knees and elbows because I am hater of cracked elbows and white powdery looking knees. It's an ointment so it is quite a thick paste-y product and it is very sticky which is why I don't use it on my hands. It also takes ages to soak in! Also with Paw Paw ointment a little goes a very long way...
It doesn't really have a strong smell and I love that it is made with natural ingredients.

I do own other moisturisers, I own mountains but these are the only ones I use on a daily basis. On a completely different note, I sadly can't find the Converse sneakers that I posted in my last post anywhere! I did however get a gorgeous Bebe leather jacket when I was at the Outlet Mall. It is my first jacket in 7 years! Can you believe that? I can't wait to get to the UK so I can actually start wearing it. It's killing me to see it all locked up in my closet!

Hope this post was enjoyable and I love the fact these are all drugstore products and really easy on the funds! I feel like there's no point buying really fancy high end products when there are really affordable alternatives that do the exact same job...

Counting the days away

Hello!

At the moment I don't really have anything beauty or fashion related to write about. So I thought why not do a little lifestyle post?

In just over two weeks I'm flying to the UK and I am so unbelievably excited- that alone is making the days move in a snail like fashion. What makes it worse is during the summer there isn't a whole lot to do without melting. Today we had highs of 45 degrees celsius! But I'm not here to talk about the weather. So to pass the days I have been waking up early (Well early-ish...) and dragging my butt to the gym, where I tend to sweat it out for a few hours (Today I burnt 745 calories. Go me!). The rest of the day I spend lazing around watching back to back Greys Anatomy and occasionally scrolling through Facebook (Ahh, such an interesting life I lead).

I may have just made myself sound like the most boring person in the blogosphere. I promise I'm not. I do see my friends at times too, this past week I've been to the movies and shopping with the bestie which has all been good and well (Just not for my wallet).

Tomorrow though, it isn't my wallet that is going to be taking a beating. It's going to be my parents (Hopefully). I'm not a brat. Really I'm not. I'm just taking a trip with the fam to the Outlet Mall. Where I'm really hoping that the Converse outlet have their white, low top, shoreline Chucks...Because I have so fallen for them. I am head over heels for these sneakers and I'm never really a sneaker person. But I've got so many outfit thats I'm just turning over in my head and boy do I want these sneakers! I keep imagining them with pretty little dresses. They are beyond cute!

Here's a pic...What do you think?

Beauty and Fashion Haul!

Hello!

Yesterday, my best friend and I went on a girly shopping spree. Something we both needed after sitting two months worth of exams! We managed to pick up some really great bargains because everywhere had summer sales, we really were very lucky. Today I thought I'd share with you what I picked up, where I bought it and the sale price vs the real price. Because I picked up a few beauty products, I also thought I might do another post to tell you what I think about them.

Here goes...

My first purchase...and my best bargain were these shoes:

New Look, original price 149 dhs, sale price 70 dhs.

For me these were love at first sight, I saw them before I met up with BohoRush (and had already tried them on) but talked myself out of buying them. When we returned to New Look, she picked them up straight away (We're so alike!) and they looked so good on! They seemed so versatile and we were both composing outfits around them in our heads. Did I mention that they were an absolute bargain? Because they were! New look had a buy one get one free deal on all of their shoes. So we decided we'd buy them together and just split the cost. We thought they were meant to be 90dhs, when we arrived at the till we found out they were actually only 70dhs! We were giddy! 35dhs each later and we were giggling with joy as we left.

My next item is from Zara. This was surprisingly my first EVER Zara purchase! (I deserve some kind of award!). I don't know why I have never really shopped in there, but when I admitted to BohoRush that I had never bought anything in Zara she insisted that we go in. And I am so glad that I did. I saw so many things that I loved (Sadly my purse didn't). I picked up this baggy dark blue jumper:

Zara, original price 115 dhs, sale price 45 dhs.

It may look a little bit purple, but that's just because I'm a terrible photographer. I wasn't to sure about this when BohoRush suggested I try it on, I normally tend to stay away from very baggy clothing because I'm a little bit curvy and always feel conscious that baggy clothing will make me look bigger. Boy was I wrong! I love this and it makes me feel small. It's a very light weight knit so it can be worn both in the summer and winter. I love the way the 3/4 length sleeves are thicker around the elbow and then fan out toward the armpit as it gives it a lovely winged effect.

Next up is the Lush Bubblegum lip scrub. I've heard wonders about this product and because while I was sitting my exams i enjoyed studying with the A/C cranked up to Arctic temperatures, my lips chapped really badly as a result. It does taste as good as they say and I've had to really stop myself from grabbing a spoon and snacking on this!

Lush, 60 dhs.

I don't know what it is about Lush products packaging that I love, but I think they're so cute and quirky! I love how pink it is and it also kinda sparkles!

Next up is something that I was umm-ing and erm-ing about. Apocolips by Rimmel. I've been looking for a coral-ey lipstick/gloss for a while now, so I decided to by this in the colour Luna. I'm still not too sure about it to be honest, I think I'll do a review once I actually use it properly.

Boots, 44 dhs.

One thing that drew me toward this product was it's packaging. I love love love, the very angular, futuristic lid that it comes with. It's hot!

Living in the desert, I have very little use for cardis and jumpers because it only really gets cold enough to wear them for a few weeks during the winter. But because as of now I only have 20 days till I fly back to the UK, I thought that maybe it was time to buy something to keep warm in chilly England. Here is what I picked up:

New Look, 95 dhs.

It sparkles! That's good enough for me. It has gorgeous little threads of metallic gold running through it and even though it sparkles it is still very understated. I also love the shape because it falls just perfectly and doesn't cling to my clothes as I find some cardis do. It might seem a but dull but I decided to go for a grey cardi because it's more versatile than something pink or coloured. A lot of my wardrobe is very monochrome so it's really easy to match with things.

While shopping I also wandered into a shop that I'd never really thought to go into before. It is called Parfois and I was so surprised that they had some really gorgeous accessories and bags, I always thought it catered for older women but it seems not. I bought a set of three earrings.

Parfois, 25 dhs.

I thought the minty blue colour of the little flowers was beautiful and I really needed a change as I have 3 piercings in my ears. I thought these were pretty and perfect for summer.

It's only a little haul because I'm saving up all my money for shopping in the UK (Hello Primark!). But I thought I'd just share the few things that I picked up and I'm so loving. I will do a review of Rimmel's Apocolips as soon as I have a proper feel for it.

Maybelline Color Sensational Popsticks

Hello!

A few months ago I was wandering around duty free waiting for my plane to Lebanon, when I came across this little beauty. I've actually not read too much about this product and picked it up on a whim. I was in need of a summery shade of lippy for my springtime holiday and this looked pretty- I'll say now, I like it a lot. I bought the shade 030 Pink Lollipop. Which looks like a vibrant sparkly pink...Something you'd get in a kids dressing up box, but I love sparkles.

Although, just looking at the lipstick it does seem like it would be very bright, it actually isn't. The pigmentation isn't very high and this may be a drawback for some people but I liked the fact it wasn't too 'in your face'. It's almost like a gloss in lipstick form which I really enjoy. I'm not a huge gloss fan as I hate the stickiness, so Popsticks really suit my tastes. It glides on very easily and even though it SPARKLES it isn't grainy- thank goodness! Also, if you do want a more vibrant pink, you can easily just build the shade up.

It smells delicious as well! Some kind of summery, strawberry concoction of lovliness. The packaging isn't as luxurious as high end lipsticks and is easily scratched and looks quite scruffy, but it is durable as it has suffered countless knockings in my giant handbag- which is a pretty good thing. The lipstick itself actually looks quite cool as it looks kind of crystally.

There is a good range of colours too, I really want to get my hands on the more coral colour as I think it will look perfect for a pretty summer sheen on the lips.

What do you think of this product?

YSL Le Teint Touche Éclat Review

I've been eyeing this product up for a while now. The internet has been absolutely raving about it, so I've been wanting to get my hands on it. The other day I was out shopping with my parents and as my mum made her way to the changing rooms, I snuck off to the beauty counters. I just wanted to look, maybe ask for the price and the range of colours, I wasn't planning on buying it (or so I told myself).

The range of colours was huge! Twenty-two in total, ranging from very fair shades to really deep ones. I caved and ended up buying the shade B-50. I have a medium skin tone and this colour easily matched up to my natural skin (All I'm worried about is losing my tan when I move back to the UK and having to fork out another 275 AED!)

Ebay

I completely love it! It evens out my complexion entirely, to the point where I rarely feel the need to wear concealer (Except for under my eyes as I inherited dark circles around my eye from my Mum). The texture is also pleasant as it is very light but also gives enough coverage. My skin never feels caked  and unable to breath when I'm wearing this. It has quite a liquid consistency but isn't so runny that it gets everywhere and makes a mess. It lasts me all day and unless I spend way too much time outside (which I rarely do) and sweat it off only then do I ever need to reapply it. Plus, although it has a dewy effect it isn't shiny enough to make you look plastic-ey, it instead just leaves your skin looking healthy and glowing. I only add a little bit of Rimmel's Stay Matte to set the foundation in place and because I live in the heat I have to make extra sure it doesn't start running. Though, all in all I don't think a powder is really necessary for everyone because the foundation does wonders on it's own

The packaging is luxurious but I wouldn't expect anything less from YSL. It's quite compact and fits neatly into my make-up bag. Although I absolutely love the expensive packaging (As it makes me feel like a princess) there are a couple of drawbacks in my opinion. The bottle is glass and feels as if it would be easily smashed, so I'm quite worried about travelling with it and it's not very handbag safe. The product is operated by a pump which I love! Who doesn't love pump foundations? They are so much easier to use than bottled ones in my opinion, so why is this a drawback? I feel like the pump doesn't pump enough out, so I end up using two pumps instead of one which leaves a little bit to waste. Maybe I just have a larger than average face...

Ohh, it smells great too! I can't quite place the smell but it's quite sweet and smells expensive. It isn't over powering either and the smell wears away quite quickly. Though any foundation is bound to smell better than the one I was previously wearing which I honestly thought smelt a bit like B/O, thankfully the smell wore off of that one within minutes.

I would recommend this product to EVERYBODY! It is definitely worth the price if you ask me. If you've tried this product to let me know what you think of it in the comments.

Here is a post about the future...

Hello!

Here's a random photo I took in Wiltshire 2 summers ago.

As the title says, this post is about the future. No, i'm not about to get all weird and tell you I can see into the future (though that would be pretty cool) but a lot of things in my life are changing very dramatically at the moment. I know for most people the summer between high school and university is a scary one. It certainly is for me. In about 28 days I'm going to be moving back to the UK, I've not lived there in around 8 years and although my family is coming with me for a bit of a holiday they will be leaving me all alone by the time summer ends.

I have conditional acceptances to The University of Glasgow and The University of Aberdeen, even though I'm English these two unis seemed perfect for me. Not only did the courses for English Language look really interesting but so did the cities and the buildings! I do love pretty buildings, especially ones which look like Hogwarts.

I have to admit though, I'm absolutely terrified! Not just about leaving home but also about my A-Level grades although the exams seemed to go okay, I'm still so on edge about my results. It's driving me crazy!

Overall though I'm excited. Terrified but excited. I'm a giant ball of mixed emotions about it all. I keep trying to look at it as another adventure and it really is. I'm just excited to see where it all takes me.

Summer/Beach Essentials

Hello!

Living in sunny Dubai, it's pretty much summer all year round so when it comes to summer essentials I've had quite a bit of experience! I'm not a very beach-y person but my friends and family are so I have a few things that I always take with me which keep me content (or at least try- nothing I take with me can stop sand getting everywhere sadly).

(1) Water

I cannot stress how important water is! I know this may seem a bit obvious, but believe me it's easy to forget ( I would know because I forgot water last week and passed out. Not my best moment to say the least). It's important to stay hydrated where ever you are, but it's extra important to stay hydrated in the heat. Dehydration can cause you to get really sick which no one wants on holiday and by staying hydrated you get the additional impacts of lovely skin! WATER! WATER! WATER!

Weheartit

(2) Suncream

This is just about as important as water. If anything you could go to the beach with just suncream and water and you'd be safe. I usually go for Boots own Soltan range. It comes in a range of SPFs, so there's lots of choice. I usually go for SPF 30 because the sun in Dubai can be quite strong. I personally think that the higher the SPF the better, though I've heard lots of people say that SPF 30 is sufficient for pretty much everywhere but I think if you burn quite easily you should definitely go for something a bit higher. Another reason I love Soltan is because it smells delish! It smells like summer, which is quite hard to describe but believe me it is great! It is also moisturising which is another plus because the sun can easily dry you out and along with salty water it can become a disaster for your skin. Although I love Soltan, just about any suncream with UVA/UVB protection will work!

Oh, and always remember to reapply your suncream every hour or two and after you've been in the water.

Boots

(3)  A Wide Tooth Comb

Beach-y looking hair is a must when lounging on the beach but when you've been drenched in salty sea water, hair can become a bit tangled and knotty. A wide tooth comb will stops hair becoming matted and messy.
Allwomenstalk

(4) Conditioner

I use this along with my comb to keep my hair feeling soft and luxurious. It also stops it from becoming really knotty, so you don't have to endure hours at home trying to battle out knotted hair. I use a small bit of Herbal Essences Hello Hydration conditioner and comb it through the ends of my hair before I leave the house and then do it again once or twice when I'm on the beach. It also stops your hair getting all crunchy, which is a giant dislike of mine.

Amazon

(5) BB Cream

Like lots of women and girls out there I never feel very comfortable leaving the house with my face completely naked. I use BB Cream when I'm going to the beach because it gives me a bit more coverage than tinted moisturiser and many of them already have SPF. BB Creams are usually waterproof which stops you having to worry that you look like your face is melting. I normally take my BB Cream with me so I can pop to the bathrooms and reapply it just in case I've rubbed some off.

I also sometimes use a little bit of concealer underneath my BB Cream but only if I'm having a horrendous face day!

Weheartit

(6) Waterproof Mascara

I love mascara! It is probably one of the few beauty essentials that I probably couldn't live without. A good waterproof mascara is essential for the beach because no one wants panda eyes. I feel mascara makes me look a whole lot prettier and just opens up my eyes making me look more awake. I prefer Maybelline Falsies waterproof mascara when I'm beaching it. It hardly ever runs (Unless you rub your eyes madly, which I do often because of the salty water ugh!) and it makes my eyelashes look ultra long!

Weheartit

(7) Lip balm & Hand cream

I've grouped these together because they aren't really important but I enjoy using them. They stop my hands getting all wrinkly from the water and the lip balm just helps soften my lips even when they are being battered by the ocean breeze.

(8) Aftersun

This is more of an 'After Beach Essential'. I usually keep my aftersun in the fridge at home and apply it straight after I've had a shower and washed of all the salt and sand. The cooling sensation feel lovely on  sunkissed and very burnt skin. It is also moisturising which is a bonus! Again, I use Boots Soltan aftersun as I love love love the smell and I also really like the texture as it's a bit of a cream/ gel hybrid, so it is very easy to apply.

So, they're my 8 Summer/ Beach essentials. I do take a lot more with me to the beach, but these are the thing that I use the most. I really feel they keep my hair and skin looking lovely. I also like taking a good book or a mag with me, not that I ever get time to read them! They usually just sit and look pretty in my bag!
